Majors and Pacific Coast League (PCL) are the more competitive divisions within SMLLA and are geared toward boys and girls who are league age 9-12 who have demonstrated both the skill and interest in competing at a high level of play. 12-year-olds may participate in PCL if they elect to play down. 11-year-olds automatically get assigned to PCL unless they have been drafted onto a Majors team. 9- and 10-year-olds may be drafted into PCL.
The PCL division is a competitive baseball division. While continuing to emphasize advanced baseball strategies and overall understanding of the game and developing good citizenship and sportsmanship, this division will be conducted on a competitive basis. Scores and standings will be maintained, with a playoff format for all teams at the end of the season. The maximum number of players to be placed on any majors’ team roster is 12. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 46 feet. |
