2025 Adult Volunteer Registration
San Mateo Little League American is run entirely by dedicated volunteers, and the smooth functioning of our league relies on active parent participation. The enthusiasm and dedication of our volunteers drive the governance and administration of the league. They manage and coach teams, schedule and oversee games, organize events, maintain fields, officiate as umpires, and ensure kids' safety.
Your time and talents are invaluable. We expect each family to contribute in some capacity, either in a team or league support role. Opportunities range from one-time tasks to ongoing commitments. We encourage everyone to find a role that aligns with their interests and availability. Below are the following volunteer opportunities available:
Board Members
Team Managers for all Divisions
Team Assistant Coaches for all Divisions
Game Scorekeepers (Single A-Juniors)
Game Day - Field Prep

In accordance with Little League Regulation I(b) and I(c) 8 & 9, all SMLLA Board Members, Coaches, Managers, Adult Umpires, and other volunteers who regularly come into contact with children are required to complete a volunteer registration/application and undergo a background check through our SMLLA website. Our website utilizes Little League International’s preferred background check provider, JDP. The JDP background check includes a nationwide criminal search, a national sex offender registry search, and a review of the US Center for SafeSport’s Centralized Database and Little League Ineligible List.
Per California Assembly Bill No. 506, in addition to the JDP background check of national databases described above, SMLLA must also conduct a finger-print based background check of the California Department of Justice database using LiveScan.
As mandated by Little League International, SMLLA will not allow any individual to participate in the League if their background check reveals a conviction or guilty plea for any crime involving or against a minor. Background checks must be completed before the volunteer begins their duties for the current season. Failure to complete the background check as required by the League makes that adult ineligible to volunteer in any capacity with SMLLA. In the Little League mandated software solutions (SportsConnect for registration and JDP for background checks) all uploaded documents are deleted after 6 months.
